Pre-pointe Screening and Readiness
Title: Pre-pointe Screening and Readiness for Dancers
On this episode, we interview Maribeth Crupi. Maribeth is a physical therapist in the Boston area who established a private practice in 2007 with a specialty focus on the care of dancers of all levels. Maribeth is a contributing author to the recently published Prevention of injuries in the Young Dancers (Ruth and John Solomon and Lyle Micheli MD - editors). She has lectured extensively to both dance programs and her peers in an effort to promote best care and training strategies for dancers. Her practice also offers backstage services to professional companies performing in the Boston area including work with Boston Ballet. Maribeth emphasizes working with the healthy limits of the dancer’s body to avoid injury without sacrificing artistry. She is particularly passionate about promoting health and wellness in the adolescent dancer.
Our mission: On Physiotherapy Performance Perspectives (PPP), Jenna and Marissa interview Physical Therapists who specialize in and love treating performing artists. In this monthly podcast, we aim to help performing artists gain a better understanding of how their body works, how to reduce risk of injury, what Physical Therapy for performing artists entails, and how to maximize performance potential.
