Injury Prevention for Tap Dancers

On this episode, we interview Daria Oller. Daria Oller is a New Jersey native. She has both a degree in Athletic Training from James Madison University and her doctorate in Physical therapy from Seton Hall University. Daria worked as an Athletic Trainer for NYU from 2006-2010 and for Penn State University's intramural sports program from 2010-2012. During her time at Penn State, Daria worked toward her Doctor of Philosophy in Kinesiology. Her work on the epidemiology of adolescent sports injuries has been published in the Journal of Athletic Training and Clinical Pediatrics. Daria is an avid tap dancer and had taught dance classes at the Central Pennsylvania Dance Workshop from 2011-2014. She has also taught injury prevention classes to tappers. Currently, she works at Foundations Physical Therapy team in New Jersey.

Our mission: On Physiotherapy Performance Perspectives (PPP), Jenna and Marissa interview Physical Therapists who specialize in and love treating performing artists. In this monthly podcast, we aim to help performing artists gain a better understanding of how their body works, how to reduce risk of injury, what Physical Therapy for performing artists entails, and how to maximize performance potential.
