Transitioning to Pointe Shoes

Title: Transitioning to Pointe Shoes

On this episode, Buffy Stinchfield is interviewed. Buffy Stinchfield began her study of human movement as a child in ballet class. A love for dance, appreciation for the human body, and desire to help others led to earning her masters degree in physical therapy in 2006. Buffy has a strong orthopedic background of over 11 years and has an expertise in working with and treating dancer athletes. As an old dancer and dance teacher, she is particularly knowledgeable and skilled in identifying technique issues that may lead to injury as well as rehabbing the dance athlete. Dancers traditionally have poor access to health care providers who are knowledgeable about their sport and she continues to advocate for them.

Mission: On Physiotherapy Performance Perspectives (PPP), Dr. Jenna Kantor interviews Physical Therapists who specialize in and love treating performing artists. In this monthly podcast, we aim to help performing artists gain a better understanding of how their body works, how to reduce risk of injury, what Physical Therapy for performing artists entails, and how to maximize performance potential.
