Intuitive Movement

Title: Intuitive Movement

On this episode, Marie Janicek was interviewed. Marie was born in raised in Denver Colorado, where she developed an intimate connection to movement at a young age. Her influences include outdoor activities such as biking, rollerblading, skiing and hiking, but most importantly, dance. Dance opened up limitless possibilities, and most importantly, a space to move freely and truly be her most authentic self.

After finishing her undergraduate degree at Barnard College, Marie began an active career as a professional dancer while building a personal training business in NYC. Fascinated with exploring the medium of movement as thoroughly as possible, she attended many training certifications to deepen her knowledge of the body and the science behind movement while also studying with many experienced dancers, choreographers, and fitness professionals. She was deeply fueled by navigating all the injuries she struggled with in her dance career, which began to formulate the importance of balance when engaging with movement or any health-conscious habit formation.

This idea of balance eventually lead her to creating a strong practice of meditation, and a thirst to find spirituality in her life. She began seeing connections and threads everywhere- between different movement practices and how they influenced her life in different ways, the connection between structure and chaos, stillness and movement, training and dance, intuition and intellect, and much more. And the more she saw the richness of connection between everything in life, a fundamental thread became clear.
